Our summer term so far has been full of action, with the girls’ weasling in and of rocks at Bone hill, swimming lengths in Topsham’s outdoor pool, cooking at Cadihoe and much more!
The month of May encouraged the guide’s competitive nature with a night of athletics, an evening of sports with the Topsham guides and not forgetting a winning performance at the Guides Olympic tennis games! We also gained a respectful third place in the Guides Olympic netball and football games, which was an excellent effort by all those involved.
The guides had a stall at the Exminster Village fate, where we raised a modest £14.43 from our hoop and marble games. Our marble game, which involved getting as many marbles into a pot in as little time as possible was won by one of our own Guides, Neve. Neve could not pull herself away from beating her previous score and finally put enough marbles in the pot, winning a box of Cadbury Heroes!
The term is not yet over, we still have an exciting evening of Coasteering, a Paralympics night and a themed sleepover to round off another busy and exciting year with the 1st Exminster Guides. We are hoping to accept eight new Brownies in September, which will bring our group to a healthy 33 girls!

July this year saw the 1st Exminster Guide unit turn 50! In order to celebrate the achievement we held a birthday sleep over for the girls. The night proceeded with games in the park, a birthday supper of pizza and birthday cake, followed by nail painting and quite a few games of hide and seek!
This event rounded off a busy summer term for the Guides which saw them going climbing, canoeing, completing a treasure hunt round Exminster, orienteering in Haldon Forest, cooking on camp fires and taking in a tree top adventure! The unit is doing well with 18 girls attending. We are looking forward to welcoming our new Brownies next term!
