The Kenn Art Exhibition. 23rd -25th March 2012
The Kenn Art Exhibition, after three very successful years based in Kenn, moved in 2010 to the new Kenn Centre in Kennford. The setting proved to be a fantastic location for this now bi-annual exhibition, and the facility offers not only more space to accommodate the expanding number of artists wanting to exhibit, but improved lighting and facilities. The new location enabled the exhibition to include more paintings and craft stalls encompassing the wealth of talent of both amateur and professional artists in the local area whilst maintaining the high quality of work that has become the bench mark of previous years.
The exhibition regularly features up to 40 artists including internationally acclaimed artists such as John Gale, well known for his stunning Antarctic oil paintings and Daniel Holmes-Adams’ atmospheric paintings of Dartmoor. This year we are delighted to have exhibiting with us for the first time Ray Balkwill, well known for his stunning pictures of the Exe Estuary. Catherine Lightfoot and Kerry Tremlett (last year’s runner up for the public’s favourite picture) will also be exhibiting along with ceramicist Abbey Higgins. Ken Parry winner of the public’s favourite picture with his beautiful traditional oil paintings will also be exhibiting.
Last year, with the date coinciding with Mothers’ Day, both the local school and pre-school mounted wonderful exhibitions in the foyer of the Kenn Centre with pictures and sculptures making a really colourful and vibrant entrance to the exhibition, which we hope they will be able to do again this year.
Fundraising for the new Kenn Centre was the catalyst for the first Exhibition and has become so popular that it has now become a regular bi- annual event, raising money for the local community and its amenities. Being run by a growing band of volunteers ensures that all proceeds go straight back into the community, helping to support local projects within Kenn and Kennford.
