Section 106 Agreements [Benefits to the Community]
A very welcome £15,000 in connection with the provision of play facilities will be transferred to the Council in the immediate future via Teignbridge DC. This is in connection with the 106 Agreement at the Devington Park development.
The Bovis Homes development also had a similar 106 Agreement in place and agreement has been reached in principle. Some of the fund [unspecified] would go to the Council and the balance retained by Teignbridge DC for ongoing maintenance of the Eager Way designated play areas.

New School to be Built?
An item in the Express & Echo indicated Exeter was considering building a new school on land within the Teignbridge DC area. County Councillor Connett and District Councillor Lake had contacted Devon CC Education Department pointing out that the present village school was underfunded, and therefore any available funding should be used to address this as the first priority.

Two More Grants Given to Local Organisations
A grant of £250 was approved for the Choices & Consequences Support Project. A pioneering programme run by the police and fire and rescue services to address the needs of young drivers including those referred due to a driving offence.
A grant of £250 was approved for the Exminster Youth Club.

Deepway Green
The barbecue `rubble` and the problem seat had been removed and the double swing and under-eights climbing wall both repaired.
A new train had been installed on 12 square metres of new safety tiles.
The safety of the "springer" was questioned. A check with the supplier Playlines, confirmed it meets all safety standards.
The Clerk had received so far only one quotation for the vandalism damage to the Deepway seats!

Village Centre Scheme - Interim Review
In descussion with B George from Devon CC Highways, issues were raised relating to double lines continuing to the bus stop outside Victory Hall; marking of the dropped kerb by the flower beds and, the removal of the extra length in Days-Pottles-Lane. The Traffic Order would be checked and if they were errors, changes could be made. If not they would be included in the next TO.
The height and alignment of the cushions had been checked and were correct; the damage to them being caused by low vehicles travelling too fast!.
The matter of displaced parking was said to be inevitable.
The 20 mph sign at the south end of the scheme would be dealt with [an extra 20 marked on the road].
The problem of the "double-crossing" by large numbers of children to avoid the garage forecourt was raised, and it was reported that one of the platform crossings was breaking up.
The scheme is due for formal review after 6 months operation.
Mr Halliday would be taking responsibility for this following the retirement of Mr George.

Travellers Searching for a New Site!
Mr Blackmore had rung the Chairman to advise that travellers had been spotted in the village looking at various open spaces. It was agreed to notify the local PC and PCSO of this.

Out of Date `Fly Posters`
Any organsiations and individuals who affix posters to posts [or anything else] round the village please ensure they are removed after the event, as they become an unnecessary eyesore.

Summer has been slow (very slow!) for articles, as you've probably gathered. So, I've been playing around with another module for the site and it's now in place - Twitter Feeds. You'll notice a new box on the left-hand-side: This contains Twitter feeds from a number of different sources.

If you're a local business and would like your feed included, just drop me an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the name of the feed, who you are, what you do and where you're based (I want to make sure we're sticking with local businesses only)  and I'll add it to the list.

Thanks,

Adam
